International Children’s Day turned into a real celebration at the Ana Gizdova home in Bratsigovo. It was a day when the joyful children performed songs and dances in front of a specially invited audience but also the day when the new premises of the “Day Centre” and “Transitional Home” were launched. The new premises were refurbished under the Establishing a Social Services Centre in the Municipality of Bratsigovo project funded by the Phare program. The premises for “Transitional home” are two spacious flats with bedrooms for 6 people each, living rooms and fully furnished kitchens and dining rooms. Twelve young people about to start independent life outside the institution will be able to learn new skills for coping with household duties and the challenges of real life. The “Day Centre” will be providing day-long care and activities for children living in the community and who are at risk of being abandoned. The project supported ten youngsters from the village of Ravnogor to take part in psychological training and six of them began vocational training courses in cookery.
